Fair Winds is thrilled to introduce our signature charitable endeavor, Memory Lane: A Journey Back to your Childhood Home. If you've wondered what it would be like to go back to the house you lived in decades ago, we'd love to try to make this happen for you! We cant make any promises, but if you tell us where you grew up, we will reach out to the current owners to request a visit. Most homeowners believe that Realtors are trustworthy when it comes to touring outsiders through a home and are more likely to let you in if we do the outreach and assume responsibility for the visit. Not everyone will say yes, many will want to be there or limit the visit to certain areas of the home, and some some won't even respond to our inquiries, but we've posed the question to dozens of people and almost everyone agreed they would allow some level of access as long as the nostalgia seeking visitors were accompanied by one of us. If you're dying to go back lets give it a try. We charge $100 for a successful visit and there is no charge if we can't help you gain access. The entire $100 goes directly to our charitable partner, The Village for RI Foster and Adoptive Families.
If you are interested in taking a walk down Memory Lane, email maya@fairwindsrg.com with your contact info and the address of your childhood home, and she will take it from there!
Why do so many people yearn to return to their childhood home? "As we grow older, the memories of childhood fade and the home acts as an anchor in reestablishing one's identity" explains psychotherapist Mark Jeremy Trybulski.
