The Village for RI Foster & Adoptive Families
In 2016, Maya was one of five foster and adoptive mothers who founded The Village for RI Foster and Adoptive Families, a support and advocacy organization for children impacted by foster care and the families who open their hearts and homes to them. Having welcomed 13 foster children into their home over the course of 12 years, Maya and Steve have a deep and enduring commitment to child welfare.
The Village's mission is to contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust network of healthy, committed, and well trained resource families for children in RI needing out of home care. While Maya is no longer involved in the day to day activity of the organization, Fair Winds is continuing to support the Village through donation of a percentage of every commission earned.
